“SAVOR THE MOMENT, SHARE THE MEAL”

“SAVOR THE MOMENT, SHARE THE MEAL”

Sharing a meal is a universal gesture of hospitality and kindness. Giving food to others is not just about feeding stomachs but also about feeding the soul, fostering empathy and creating a more compassionate society. To foster this noble habit among students, Sreepuram took the initiative to start “Sreepatheyam” – a “share a meal” programme. This year’s programme was formally inaugurated by the Deputy Mayor of Kannur Corporation, Adv. P. Indira, on Tuesday, 25th June 2024, by lighting a lamp.

In his inaugural speech, the School Manager, Rev. Fr. Joy Kattiyankal projected that such initiatives not only provide nourishment, but also promotes dignity and compassion among all participants involved. The School Principal, Rev. Sr. Ayona Simon also emphasized that sharing a meal plays a crucial role in addressing immediate hunger needs and also fosters a sense of solidarity and care within communities.

Rev. Fr. Alwin Vivera, the Manager of the Holymount Charitable Trust reminded the students that many people, both locally and globally, struggle with food insecurity. By providing food, we directly address hunger and contribute to improving quality of life. Following his speech, food packets were handed over to him by the staff secretaries and the school leader.
